The company, at the end of the year, confirmed the listing of 140 million euros

 

The result on the Stock Exchange for Intensivecare Spa was positive after a few months from the listing, which took place in May 2020. The company specialized in the production and distribution of electro-medical equipment, in fact, maintains its listing on the Stock Exchange of 140,283,990 euros, confirming itself as one of the few Italian start-ups to have received such an important result; we are talking about the highest price (without trading) in the last 10 years.

 

What made it possible to enter the international financial world (with listing on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange)? The patent of the Pneumohelp® machine, a minimally invasive system for the extracorporeal removal of CO2.

 

A highly effective solution that reduces the need for intubation in the treatment of the acute phase of chronic obstructive bronchopathy (COPD) as well as in the treatment of the chronic phase.

 

In this regard, a scientific study has been launched, called ORION, which makes use of the support of Pneumohelp®, relying on the participation of numerous centers throughout Italy.

 

Professors Marco Ranieri and Stefano Nava were leading the study; the centers involved are: Rome, Catania, Bologna, Salerno, Modena, Trieste, Naples, Turin, Bari, Padua, Cagliari, Arezzo, Sassari.

ORION studio starts from Salerno

Doctors from all over Italy come together to improve the clinical condition of COPD patients

More than 50 doctors from all over Italy come together on September 28th at the Savoy Beach Hotel in Paestum, starting at 9:00 am, to launch a randomized, spontaneous controlled study on an innovative COPD treatment.

The team of professionals, led by Prof. Marco Ranieri and Prof. Stefano Nava, from the Alma Mater Studiorum in Bologna, congregated in plenary session to discuss the extracorporeal removal of carbon dioxide for the treatment of acute COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), which is a progressive lung disease characterized by a persistent airway obstruction that causes trouble breathing.

The purpose of the study, called ORION, is to allow a non-invasive mode of ventilation for the patient, trying to avoid intubation and visibly improve their clinical condition.

The studio will make use of PneumoHelp®, an extracorporeal machine, patented by the Salerno-based company Intensivecare.

PneumoHelp® is a minimally invasive low-flow system for extracorporeal removal of CO2.

It reduces the need for intubation in the treatment of the acute phase of chronic obstructive bronchopathy (COPD), as well as in the treatment of the chronic phase.

Thanks to an advanced user interface, it is intuitive to use with a consequent short learning curve.

Here is what Prof. Marco Ranieri and Prof. Stefano Nava stated “This project represents an example of collaboration between science and industry, and between universities and production. As a matter of fact, the study will be carried out thanks to the convergence of funding from the Minister for Scientific Research and Intensivecare company. This is a clear example of the Italian ability to build up the future”.

The meeting, arranged in full compliance with anti-covid rules, was attended on site of some doctors, as well as a streaming link for those who cannot take part at the event physically.

                   The company, led by Roberto Intennimeo, among the big names in Luxembourg

Intensivecare Spa – www.intensivecarespa.com – specialized in the production of electro-medical equipment in the field of extracorporeal treatments was officially listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange (“Luxembourg Stock Exchange-LSE”) on May 15, with initial capitalization above 140 million Euros. The announcement was made by Stock Exchange of the Grand Duchy through its website and official media.

Intensivecare has developed and patented a high-tech device for lung dialysis suitable for the treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and COVID-19 according to several scientific publications and a technique developed by Profs. Stefano Nava and Marco Ranieri of the Alma Mater -Sant’Orsola University Hospital in Bologna. Prof. Ranieri is responsible for the ORION study, which assesses the effectiveness of ECCO2R in COPD patients, a study funded by the MIUR PRIN program in which Intensivecare takes part in by making available the “Pneumohelp” device.

PneumoHelp® is a device for removing carbon dioxide directly from the patient’s blood; a technique you might define as “Lung Dialysis”.

Thanks to a minimally invasive vascular access, it draws blood from a patient’s vein and through an innovative atraumatic pump, passes it through a device (the oxygenator) that eliminates CO2 at a low flow.

Such treatment allows to ventilate the patient by reducing the need for intubation or, in the most serious cases, it allows a ventilation that respects the physiology of the lung protecting it from side effects.

The device, which is unique in the world, is totally “Italian” both for its technical-scientific definition and its engineering.

PneumoHelp® was designed taking patient’s safety into consideration. Thanks to its extreme operational simplicity, it only takes the positioning of the pre-assembled disposable kit on the device.

PneumoHelp® addresses the treatment of exacerbated COPD, chronic COPD (third leading cause of death worldwide)

A quick worldwide spread of such method can be expected, considering that it has been made simple and accessible thanks to PneumoHelp®. Over 250 million people with COPD are currently registered worldwide, even though the number is assumed to be higher than that.

In the last few months, Intensivecare had reached an agreement for global distribution with the multinational company Getinge, as a result of Roberto Intennimeo’s brilliant work in recent years. Roberto Intennimeo is the CEO of the company; his technical and commercial staff are operating in the laboratories in Lombardy and in the head office in Salerno, together with his children Daniela and Paolo, and the Technical Director Michele Gazzano.

Intensivecare was supported by Brooks Hougthon Overseas, European subsidiary of the US investment banking group Brooks Houghton & Company Inc. in New York.

The company will be financially assisted by the French group BNP Paribas – through the Geneva team – for the implementation of its industrial plan – which foresees the first deliveries in the last quarter of this year.

Critical Area 2019

The “Critical Area” conference was held in Bologna 5-6 December, dedicated to the clinical-organizational issues and the scientific aspects of all the clinical conditions characterized by instability of vital functions, which require support and advanced monitoring.

The congress, chaired by professors Marco Ranieri, Giuliano Bertazzoni and Stefano Nava, was attended by many important companies in the sector.
